Jam Jumbles

Jack was shown this recipe when visiting a friend, Loki, towards the end of 2019. Loki's brother Zane makes these frequently and made them while Jack was visiting.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain flour self raising for a puffier jumble
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp water
  • jam

Instructions

  • Mix flour, salt, and butter in a mixing bowl until it is a crumbly dough
  • Add a teaspoon of water to the dough so it is sticky, if it isn't sticky add more water
  • Take the dough out of the bowl and knead until it is not sticky
  • Put small pieces of dough onto the backing tray flattened out
  • Put a dollop of jam in the centre of each piece of dough and pinch the dough over the jam to enclose it
  • Put the baking tray into a pre-heated over at 180 degrees and bake for 20 minutes or until cooked
  • Take the baking tray out of the oven and set aside to cool

Notes

Variation:
Roll out the dough flat and spread jam all over. Roll up the dough to make a scroll log and bake like this.
